Education for Waste Picker kids Fund
About
70 Waste pickers’ families have been living in damaged unprotected huts in a slum in Guntur city, Andhra Pradesh, India since 2010. Waste Picking and selling is the only source of income to their families. They are living in utter poverty with at risk of starvation and ill health. Children are not growing well as per their age without proper care and education. Children in these families have almost negligible exposure to education and children are already engaged in working as waste picking.
The Bharatiya Abhyudaya Seva Samithi (BASS) is seeking support to continue a special learning Centre to facilitate good quality education that enhances children’s confidence, learning levels and skills. Also BASS team works to enroll kids who drop out into formal schools, monitor and follow up to ensure that these kids complete their education in a timely manner. In addition, BASS
- Provides basic health care for the proper growth of children
- Provides kids with daily nutritious breakfast and evening meals
- Educates waste picker families on life skills.
